Volkswagen Group Rus started to produce the new-generation Volkswagen Tiguan crossover SUV at the plant in Kaluga. Customers will be able to buy it in the first quarter of 2017. The investments in the start-up of the new Tiguan production made up 180 million Euros.
The new Volkswagen Tiguan will be equipped with gasoline 1.4-liter and 2.0-liter TSI engines and a 2.0-liter diesel engine. The standard versions will have front-drive and manual transmission and the more expensive variants – four-wheel drive transmission and DSG.
The car prices haven’t been announced yet, but according to the preliminary information, the new crossover will cost at least 1,4-1,5 million rubles. The current version of the Tiguan is much cheaper – 1179000 rubles, and its production will be continued in 2017.
The Volkswagen enterprise in Kaluga started to work in 2007. 96824 cars were produced there last year, though the planned capacity of the plant is 225 thousand vehicles a year.
