Last week PSA Peugeot-Citroen and Mitsubishi joint venture in Russia started assembly of the new generation Mitsubishi Outlander crossover. It happened to become the second car model assembled at the Kaluga-based PSMA Rus car factory via complete production cycle (the first vehicle came to be Peugeot 408, full-cycle assembly started this summer).
The world premiere of the new generation Outlander took place this spring in Geneva. It’s really curious that Russia is the first country where the car sales were launched; before the assembly of the vehicle in Kaluga as many as 8.000 mint-new cars arrived to Russia from Japan. Prices for the crossover in Russia start at 969.000 rubles (~$31.000) and it’s seen that after the production localization the price will not change.
PSMA Rus car factory is planning to produce around 2.000 vehicles until the end of 2012.
